Medical offices cant afford inconsistency. Patients notice it. Staff feel it. And inspections can become stressful when cleaning isnt documented.
Use this checklist as a baseline. Then tailor it to your clinical workflows, traffic patterns, and any site-specific requirements.
1) High-touch points (every visit)
- Entry door handles (inside/outside)
- Front desk counter surfaces
- Waiting room chair arms and side tables
- Light switches, push plates, elevator buttons (if applicable)
- Break room handles: fridge, microwave, cabinets
2) Waiting area
- Vacuum or dust-mop floors; spot-clean as needed
- Wipe visible smudges on glass/doors
- Empty trash and replace liners
- Dust horizontal surfaces (frames, ledges, signage)
3) Exam rooms
- Empty trash and replace liners
- Wipe non-clinical surfaces (counters, cabinets exteriors)
- Dust and wipe baseboards as needed
- Spot-clean walls and doors around handles
- Clean floors (vacuum/mop based on surface)
4) Restrooms
- Disinfect sinks, faucets, counters
- Disinfect toilets and surrounding touchpoints
- Refill soap, paper towels, toilet paper
- Clean mirrors and chrome
- Mop floors; detail corners/edges
5) Final walkthrough (5 minutes)
- Check for odors and overflowing trash
- Confirm supplies are stocked
- Look for streaks on glass and fingerprints on doors
